JUST FINISHED WATCHING: SEARCH PARTY (2016-2022)

Search Party is a dark comedy about four self-absorbed twenty-somethings who become entangled in an ominous mystery when a former college acquaintance suddenly disappears.

TRIVIA: Showalter described the show's first season like a "millennial Nancy Drew".
Michael Showalter taught screenwriting at New York University film school for six years. During his time there, two students (Sarah-Violet Bloss and Charles Rogers) impressed Showalter and wanted to work more with them, so he brought them on to the staff of his Netflix show, "Wet Hot American Summer" and began developing "Search Party".
According to an interview in Vulture Magazine, other key influences for the show were Alfred Hitchcock, Agatha Christie, Dateline, Roman Polanski, German expressionism and film noir tropes to name a few.
Alia Shawkat (Dory) and Christine Taylor (Gail) previously starred in Arrested Development (2003), as Maeby Funke and Sally Sitwell, respectively.

MY VERDICT: I honestly think that this show has become one of the most inventive, imaginative and entertaining shows of the last few years. Even with all the directions that I goes in, it is consistently well written, well acted and innovative. The humour might not be for everyone but for someone like me who it not typically into comedies it hit the right buttons, it’s funny in places but also dark and cutting and the satire is spot on for these modern times. If you hate millennials, but also happen to be one I think this is the show for you. The first season is completely different from the last, yet the characters are consistent and the quality is always there. I would highly recommend to go on this show’s journey. Oh, and the guest stars alone are worth showing up for.
