FILM 2044: FROM BEYOND

TRIVIA: The H.P. Lovecraft story on which the film is based is only seven pages long.

Dr. Pretorious's character is named after Dr. Septimus Pretorius, Henry Frankenstein's former teacher, who seduces Henry to the dark side.

Dr. Bloch is named after Robert Bloch, the author of the novel upon which Psycho (1960) was based and a friend of writer H.P. Lovecraft.

The Resonator sound effects were later sampled in the song "Intergalactic" by the Beastie Boys.

The sound effect used for the opening and closing doors in the hospital at the beginning of the film are re-used from Star Trek, several iterations of which Jeffrey Combs would later go on to feature in.

Was filmed in Italy with an Italian crew in order to save money. Gordon says that the film would have cost fifteen million dollars to make in the United States, whereas the foreign production enabled him to hold costs to approximately two and a half million dollars. It was shot on a soundstage called Dinocitta just outside Rome. Dinocitta was originally constructed by Dino DeLaurentiis, but was seized by the government for nonpayment of taxes, and then sold to Empire Studios.
