FILM 2284: CALIFORNIA MAN (1992)

TRIVIA: Pauly Shore was considered for the role of Link before the producers met Brendan Fraser and decided that he was better suited for the part. However, they liked Shore so much that they created the role of Stoney just for him. Most of Stoney's lines were ad-libbed by Shore because they were never in the original script.

Jim Carrey and Nicolas Cage were both considered for the role of Link before Brendan Fraser was cast.

At 6'3", Brendan Fraser was actually too big for the clothing that costume designer Marie France had originally purchased for him. Since Fraser's outfits were supposed to look baggy on him, France had to specially make all of them.

Ke Huy Quan and Sean Astin appeared on-screen together briefly in this movie. It marks the first and only time any original cast members of The Goonies (1985) appeared on screen together again.

The band playing at the prom is funk-metal supergroup Infectious Grooves; featuring Mike Muir of the thrash punk band Suicidal Tendencies, with vocals Dean Pleasants on guitar, Adam Siegel of Excel on lead guitar, Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction on drums, and Robert Trujillo of Suicidal Tendencies, who currently plays bass with Metallica.
