FILM 2285: DANTE'S PEAK (1997)
TRIVIA: The "volcanic ash" was really fine newspaper shavings.
Cast and crew of this movie found themselves in a distribution race with 20th Century Fox, which was producing Volcano (1997) at the time. Due to a sped-up production schedule, this movie reached theaters almost three months earlier than Volcano, and had better box-office success.
Pierce Brosnan said in a press interview shortly after the film's release that he practiced shouting the line "It's a pyroclastic cloud!" in front of a mirror for six days prior to shooting the scene. Brosnan stated "it is the movie's key emotional scene, and I needed to get that enunciation just right. That's acting."
Michael Douglas was originally set to play the lead.
ONE SENTENCE REVIEW: The least stressful disaster movie you’ll ever see, the two leads are very watchable but the choices of that old lady made me mad!
