It’s picnic season in the UK and we’re really lucky at the moment with some beautiful picnic perfect weather. Picnics are as popular as they’ve ever been, especially since their boom during lockdown when picnicking was the only way to eat together at certain times. I think people were reminded of the joy of the picnic and it continues to be popular today.
This post starts with a visual mood board of some of the most aesthetically pleasing picnics from around the world. To give you some inspiration for setting – the beach, a field, the park – and styling in terms of cutlery, blankets, baskets, cushions and the types of food to take – cakes, bread, cheeses, wines. It’s making me hungry just thinking about it.
Then we travel into food territory, I’ve separated these into two sections – one where you want to make something for your picnic and one where you want to buy everything in, as always I have tried to cover all the bases, from easy to difficult recipes, from affordable to boujie options.
And then there’s the accessories, if you want to be the envy of those picnickers next door then I suggest a totally over the top basket but if you only have one thing for your picnic a waterproof picnic blanket is a must especially if you’re picnicking in the UK.
